The first dynamic character in astrology is the Sun; it is the only character that is not dependent on, or effected by, any other object in the solar system for its' existence. Although the planets are dependent upon the Sun for their existence, and moons are dependent upon a planet for their existence, the Sun is a star and as such, it is not dependent upon planets or any other object to exist. A Star simply needs to radiate light and other energy.

Just like the Sun, the Fool permeates the whole deck, affecting everything yet remaining unaffected and oblivious to everything else but itself. On the one hand it is the most self centered of the astrological bodies and on the other hand it is the most giving of all the bodies; radiating light and energy to others.
